This procedure will also clear Alarm 16/17 that occurs when the NVRAM memory becomes corrupted. For drives equipped with only “Drive” and “Test” jumpers:

  • Step 1: Power off the spindle drive, and set the jumper located next to the keypad display to the “SET” or “TEST” position. Then, power the spindle drive back on. This will initiate a data scroll on the display, showing the current contents of the RAM chip.
  • Step 2: Next, press and hold all four keys on the keypad simultaneously until the display shows all “F” characters. Once the display reads all “F”s, press and hold the “MODE” key and the down arrow key until “FC22” appears on the screen.
  • Step 3: When “FC22” is displayed, release all keys. Then, press and hold the “DATA SET” key until the word “good” appears on the display.
  • Step 4: At this point, power off the spindle drive and move the jumper back from the “SET” or “TEST” position to the “DRIVE” position. Power the spindle drive back on, and follow the procedure in the maintenance manual to re-enter or restore the parameters into the RAM chip.
